replacing the hydraulic control valve

How do I go about replacing the hydraulic control valve? (part 9n640)

Also, it sorta worries me that the pin broke to begin with. What could have caused sufficient pressure to break it to begin with?

Thanks!

You can replace the control valve by removing both the inspection plates and simply pulling the old control valve and T out and replace the same way. It can be done with the oil in the lift but is easier if it is drained so you can see what's going on. Spread the control arms and remove the T and then reconnect the new one.

Easier said than done but can be done. It's sometimes easier to do up through the drain hole believe it or not but you may get a drip of oil in your eye.

LMAO, Zane!!

That's kinda like that gynecologist feller, turned mechanic, that rebuilt his Harley thrugh the mufler, huh?

I don't doubt that it is possible though....

Done -- thanks guys. Took about 1:15 hours. Most of that was getting those forks pulled apart while getting the cross member in place... One-handed and standing on my head, but not too bad.
