Replacing Vertical Muffler

I am not able to remove my vertical exhaust muffler on my NH 2910. I have tried heating with mapp and pulling on it for hours, its just not removable.

I am thinking about cutting the muffler off above the hood where I can remove the hood.

A friend has told me that cutting off the muffler would allow debris to fall down into the engine. Should I be concerned or is it okay to cut if off like I said.

Debris will only fall down into the exhaust manifold at the bottom of the elbow,it will not magically get sucked sideways into the engine. Use a thin attachment for a shop vac to suck out any debris at the bottom of the elbow after you cut and before you try to start the engine and you should be fine.
