Responsible drinking?

I would like to share an experience with you all about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years. A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends and had a few too many beers and some rather nice claret. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before - I took a bus home. I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have
never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got this one.

That's a good one! Haven't we all done stupid things while having a few too many? I've got some stories to tell my future kids what NOT to do. Funny now, but sure got lucky way to many times.

Actually Rich - my brother sent that text to me in an e-mail. I thought folks might enjoy it. I remember some days kinda like that too, but they are long behind me now. Never took a bus home though. . .

That was funny!
I actually seen this happen one time. When I was in my teens I was on a sports team, we went to Mexico City, and to Veracruz for tournaments. After the contest in Veracruz someone bought adult beverages for us. One of the younger members of the team stole a city bus, when the police caught him he was spinning donuts in the city soccer field!

I told our kids CALL anytime we will come and get you no problem. Our daugter went to a Gavin Degraw concert(he is from our area) and her ride left early and backup(parents) had been drinking. She called 3:00AM to be picked up and thought I would be mad, happy to get her home safe, we ended up giving 5 kids a ride that night. One other parent called to thank us the next day. Best thing I ever told the kids and think all parents should. Think safe for the holiday and stay alive. Happy New Year

You mention . . . "as I have
never driven a bus before "

OK. You were drinking. Did you then "drive" a bus as you wrote . . . or ride the bus?

I'm wondering if a punch line actually has to punch some before they see it's a joke. And a good one.

Hi Dean. No he didn't even get in trouble. We were guests of the Mexican government, we had a woman assigned to us, who her husband was some kind of big shot in the government. I know her name alone carried a lot of weight. When we first arrived by bus in Veracruz the bus driver was a little confused on where to go. He pulled over on the side of the city street. A police man came up screaming to move on, this woman who was sitting behind the bus driver stood up and stuck her head out the bus driver's window, all I could understand of the conversation was her name. When the policeman heard her name he jumped to attention, saluted her, spun around and away he went!

I could tell you that I have never done anything stupid on New Years Eve, but if I did, you would know I'd be liable to lie about other things as well. LOL Good joke though.

I have had a few stories to tell my kids and grandkids what not to do. It seems though that each generation has to learn the hard way. I am not ashamed of having done stupid things while having a few too many, it's having done stupid things while stone sober what bothers me!

Not a bus but along the same lines. Just one more example of Idaho "leadership" at its best.

Your joke would probably not strike this buffoon as humorously as it did me. I think the blessing on his underwear had expired. . .
