Restoring a Ford 4000

Well guys I made a mistake, the Ford 4000 is really a Ford 3000. I have two sets of numbers so hopefully one set of numbers can tell me what I actually have. The first set of numbers was under the seat stamped to the rear end, those numbers are C6 NN-4024 U, and the second set of numbers was on the right side of the motor (if sitting on the tractor) and those numbers are C5NN-706-B4. Can someone give me the spec's on this tractor?

As mentioned in many other posts, try this excellent site:

Randy, if I get home early enough I'll see if I can get outside and take a better picture than what's on the web site. On the right side of the Transmission housing just back from where the engine bolts to the transmission is a flat spot that is parallel with the ground. You should find the first (top) code begins with a letter (B-E)and then 4 numbers, then a letter. Or the top code will be 5 numbers and a letter.
Just to let you know when I started with mine a few years back it took me three or four trys to find these number. I had the advantage I could just walk out my front door to check again.

We're still looking forward to hearing about your rebuild. Keep us posted.

Those are engineering numbers and do not tell us much of anything. Print this linked page and take it with you the next time you visit the tractor and it will show you where to locate the Model and Serial numbers. You will find the specs for a 3000 on the same website.

Guys, all this information is helpful and I an thankful for all the help you guys are giving me. I have printed the picture with the information about all the serial numbers and will be taking that with me next time I go look at the tractor. I will keep you guys posted. Again thanks for the help.

The man was decoding the production code for the tractor in the photo which happens to be a gas powered 3000. If you look closely at the photo you can see a carburetor on the engine which is a pretty good indicator that it is a gas engine. If you will look at the first link I posted (labeled Ford ID) you will see that a diesel powered 3000 will have the numeral "1" in it's production code, a gas engine has the numeral "2" and an LP tractor has a "3".

Randy, Here are the numbers off my Ford 4000.

Top number - 41024C
Second row - C178431 7F21

The top number means.
4 = 4000
10 = Ag
2 = Gas
4 = Independent PTO
C = 8 Speed Transmission.

I believe the last number means it was manufactured 1967 June 21.
