ring gear

Is there any tricks to putting on a new ring gear? I took the old one of ( IH cub) and found out it is hard to put on the new one

heat it up a little. if nothing else ,stick it in the oven for about 20 minutes at about 250*

Use a torch to wasm it up and it will slip on easy. I fasten a pair of vice grips and then go around and around with the heat source till it will slip rite on.

250 degrees ain't gonna do it. 450 degrees is more like it!

Be sure to clean the flywheel where it mounts as well.

You might want to peen it in place too.

either heat the ring gear or freeze the flywheel have had to do both at same time before to get one to slide on

You can also just set it on the flywheel and heat it there. gear will heat much faster than the flywheel and eventually drop on. Have a hammer and driving punch handy to make sure it seats. just go around the gear with a torch, preferably a rosebud tip.
