I have about put about 10 hours on my rebuilt engine on my 48 8n. I bought the engine in the winter and it had a complete rebuilt according to the seller. This was brand new valve train, pistons, sleeves, rings, polished crank, rebuilt oil pump, etc. It runs great. The only issue has been that whenever you advance the throttle quickly it has been putting out a puff of blue smoke, indicating some oil burn. Some have suggested that it may be the rings still need to seat on a new engine. I was at Auto Zone yesterday and saw some of the oil additives. There are so many different brands out there but they all seem about the same. Anyway I bought a bottle of the Ring Seal oil additive and added it to the oil and ran it for about five minutes. Now there is NO blue smoke. I don"t know if this is a band aid fix or if I"ll have to add this at every oil change, but it actually worked to stop the smoke. Maybe it will help the new rings. What do you all think about this stuff?
Thanks,
Scott
