whats a fair price to haul rock and still make a little money will be hauling abt 15 miles one way on a tandem truck have about 300 tons to haul

Short haul..Tri axels we are charging $ 65.00 an hour Middle Tenn.. Have 16 running and stay busy.
Figur your operating cost and devide it out by hour. If you are owner operator you may can make labor with something less, remember we are in it to make money not break even.. Jerry

when you haul by the hour do you charge from time you load first load till you dump last load this guy is wanting a per trip price i am assuming it will take 45 min to an hour for a round trip would 65 to 75 a trip be decent and still make a little

How big is the rock? If it's small is OK but if it's tennis ball sized or bigger is going to pound the heck out of your box, especially if the guy loading wants to do it as fast as possible. When you charge by the hour, charge from when you show up on site and allow time to return from dumping the last load. A small job charge from when you leave home. I'd figure an hour and charge a little more because it's rock rather than black dirt or something else soft. Only you can decide if it pays enough for you to make a little. Always add a little bit just in case. Also consider if he would be able to find anyone else that would do it cheaper. If he seems to want it done for real cheap, let him find someone else. I've done work for people like that and it's nothing but a hassle. Dave

Johnathn how is work over there. Are you abel to keep everybody on the payroll thru the winter.
With the times as bad as they are we had a real good winter. Maybe about the first of May we will go to your $ 75.00 We have been at 6500 and adding a surcharge when fuel went over 2.85
