I have a small rockwel vertical milling machine.I see collets listed a s R-8 .Is this the same as Bridgeport R-8? I have a Br R-8 tool that seems to long and will not go up in the spindle.

R-8 is a standard designation. An R-8 will fit any machine that calls for R-8 collets. This goes for any collet designation C-5 is a common lathe collet and will fit any lathe calling for C-5 collets.
