Roloff weights

Any hints on getting the wedges on Roloff weights loose? It's a Hat rim that I will take the tire off & see if it's worth saving, but the weight wedges are rusted TIGHT! Bolts are also rusted in place. Thinking maybe take the whole thing off, lay it down weight down, & beat around the center disc w/a REALLY big hammer??? Other thought PLEASE!!

Heat, as in a torch, will usually do the trick to losen used bolts & nuts. But be careful! You might want to dismount the tires first or at least deflated them.

A mixture of ATF and acetone should loosen the rust.

Be careful getting the wedges loose, they will break. I think they are cast iron and I couldn't find them any place.

I've gotten them loose with a 3 day program ofL
1. Gibbs penetrating oil on day one and a rubber mallett tapping on them with a round piece of oak fire wood.
2. 50/50 Mix of Automatic transmission fluid and acetone on day two, repeat rubber mallet and roudn pieve of oak fire wood.
3 Day 3, Gidbb penetrating oil, rubber mallett with oak fire wood and then move to a small machinist hammer and the oak fire wood, then a small punch.

They didn't rust in a day and sometimes we get impatient and think the need to come unstuck TODAY. Time is your friend
