Roosa CB pump problems

We have a 300 industrial (basically a 1020) and it is no longer coming up to full rpm. We"ve checked the fuel system, changed the filter,etc but still the same thing. It hits about 2100 rpm and no more. Obviously the pump is obsolete but I"m not keen to shell out the money to swap it out. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You can't even buy a seal kit for that pump anymore unless you find one in old stock somewhere.

Check the rack and pinion throttle gears - they are the first thing to wear. Often you can pop out the pinion gear, turn it over 180 degrees, and make it work again.

Okay. Seeing as it's consistent is it possible to have slipped a tooth on the rack? Any online copies of a manual for the pump?

I doubt you'll find any info on-line. Those CDC and CBC pumps had very limited applications - and all parts support was discontinued in the late 80s. I was working in a pump shop at the time and we were fixing many pumps with used parts. I don't know anybody in the country that has any major new parts anymore. The throttle-gear sets used to be very common - but seems they've all disappeared.

Deere sells change-over kits to convert to the DB style pump.

My 300 has the changeover kit on it - since my CBC crapped out 10 years ago. But - mine needed major parts which I could not get. And, even if I could of - it did not make sense to spend much money on an obsolete pump.

In regard to the gears - it's a ten minute job to take one out and look at it. Usually, the pinion wears out - but the rack is still useable. So - you can just pop it out and turn it over.

Thanks a bunch for the diagram. I'll pop it apart tomorrow and see what's cooking. If it works, rolling the gear beats laying out half the value of the tractor for a pump conversion.
