Round Baler remotes...

Hello everyone-
Just a question out of curiosity. Is there any Round baler that does not require at least 2 hydraulic remotes? I do custom baling with square bales right now, and I'm wondering if any of the older round balers had less of a requirement on hydraulics..since my M only has one remote.

anything with an electric tie would fit the bill, they'd onyl require one set of remotes. A Vermeer's are the berries... Just make sure you have enough HP

Most round balers only need one remote, new or old. We use a Gehl 2480, 4 years old, the only hydraulics is for opening and closing the gate.

I have one remote..period...one hydraulic hose. I do have the
two way (up and down pressure) but its just one hose.

I don't know how you could have up and down pressure with only one hose, to have up and down pressure you have to have a hose on each end of the cylinder. Also it would not work very good to round bale with an M without live power. Lee

i had the same dilemma awhile back...heres what was suggested to me...plumb it downline of your existing controls and run your hoses and fittings off new selector valve.

If you have only one hose, you don't have down pressure, you have gravity. A Farmall M with a belly pump won't make enough pressure to open the gate of any round baler I know of even if you plumb in a double acting valve. I f you had a live hydraulic pump on the M, that would be different, but then you would most likely have a double acting remote.

Do you mean 2 remotes or two outlets which is one double acting remote?
Most balers need at least double acting remote in order to close and latch the gate. Two if it has hydraulic tie.

I have a Krone 125 and Krone 260.

Both have only one hydraulic hose.

Hydraulics to raise and lower tailgate.

Hydraulics to raise and lower pickup.

Most round balers should have had option for either single (electric tie) or dual remotes (hydraulic tie) Some round balers don't require ANY remotes (newer automatic Hesston's with on board pump and full electro/hydraulic control box)

A brand new MF 1734 (same as CIH 8420) can still be bought with single remote (tail gate) and ROPE activated tie...

To me the main disadvantage of dual remotes required is if your tractor doesn't have them...other wise (at least to me) An electric system is one additional thing to worry about.

I used to have a Deere 510 with hydraulic tie that had a divider valve that you pulled a rope to toggle which remote was active - worked pretty well (hydraulically, that is).

I have a JD 530 which is about 25 years old and rolls a 5x6 roll. Tie arm is operated by an onboard pump which is driven off the pto. Only hyd you need is to lift the gate when the roll is finished.
