round baler?

what is the lowest hp it will take to run a 4x5
baler?
also how does the electric tie work on them,
are they any good?

Lost of info left out. It all depends on the brand of the baler etc etc etc. Each brand can be more or less HP depending on many many things.

Yea, it will depend on the brand, but sure gets iffy below 50 hp. Maybe 45 hp with the right baler.

Our KRONE 260 4x5 baler requires a minimum 42HP tractor.

We use <a href="http://youtu.be/pawEiU_gayA">"Big John" a 55 Model 70 diesel</a> with 50hp and it powers the baler really good.

The electric tie system is powered by a small motor controlled by a remote toggle switch on the back of the tractor seat.

Switch the toggle on and the electric motor turns four knurled wheels that feeds the twine into the baler.

Once the twine is "caught" by the bale, switch the toggle off.

I think my hesston 5530 says 35 HP. My AC D-10 has no problems handling it.

40 horsepower is about right for the smaller 4X5's. If you have hills, wetter hay, and turning the density settings up all require more power.

If you can find a 4x5 Gehl belt baler, you can roll hay with a 32 hp tractor. The Gehl will have electric tye, and one set of hydraulics to dump the bale. One really effective demonstration was a 300 Farmall on a Gehl 1400 series balor. Made nice, tight bales.

brother has a ford 4000, i thought that would pull a 4x5 on level ground.
i would have to add a set of hydrolics, and find a baler with an electric tie i guess.

i just need somthing to bale 60-70 bales a year.

most locals around here use vermeer.

are there any balers to stay away from?
any of them cheaper to fix than another?
