if you're plowing it under, why would you bother spraying it first? wouldn't being plowed under pretty much kill the weeds, especially if it was bush hogged first?

thanks, my trouble here in WV I only have 3-4 inches of t-spoil to turn over and it just doesn't seem to do a good enough job? it's all rock below that

thanks though for you r thoughts

It does take 7-10 days to look dead and brown. The Roundup has been absorbed by the plant after 2 days. Then you can do whatever you want as long as the foliage remaining is not a problem.

I'd a said 10 days, but that is because I typically go after deep rooted weeds - like Canadian thistle - with glyphosate and want the poison to travel all the way down to the end of those yards of roots. It can take 3-5 weeks for a patch of that stuff to really die off.

If you have such shallow soil & no deep roots, then 2-5 days is probably good enough.

Always refer to the label. I believe for Round Up it states 4-5 days. I've had good luck tilling the next day, but I added ammonium sulfate (fertilizer) to my mix. It lowers the pH of the water to Glyphosate (Round Up's) optimal range and fools plants into taking in the spray and moving it to the roots quicker because it thinks it's being fertilized.

I go for a total brown out kill down looking sick and dead with Roundup, plus a rain. If I'm going notil I like to wait 4-6 weeks then hit it with a shot of Gramoxone, and drill the next day. If Im plowing usually it suits me in 14 days thought I like to wait longer. Seems to work better if the roots have started breaking down.
