What are some different rpm limits? one of the clubs i pull with has a stupidly low rpm limit for open gear and im curious as to what it is for other clubs

ALL THE CLUBS THAT I PULLED WITH IF IT HAS SPEED LIMIT LIKE 8MPH AND 12MPH IT IS SOMEWHERE IN 2400 TO 2700 RMP RANGE. SEEMS LIKE THE CLOSER TO 3000 RPMS THE MORE SAFTEY ISSUES ARISE. AND ALL THESE CLUBS REQUIRE OPERATING GOVERNORS.

3000 would be a good RPM but you alway's have someone that doesn't want it just because them there self's don't really want to spend any money. They just want to take a stock tractor and just turn the fuel up a little and try to pull open gear, witch is just fine but don't cut every thing down and rurn every one else's fun just because you know enough people to get the rules changed and don't have enough power to play with the rest! Just add a few rules for scatter blanket's and any other to asure safty, but like all the years before and years to come as long as you don't beet them they wouldn't say a thing even if you turned 5000 RPM's but as soon as you beet them the rule's will alway's change in there faver ( THAT IS THE GOLD'N RULE IN EAST TN!)

I would have to agree with you on some of the things you say but its hard to take a stock tractor turn up the fuel and pull open gear, rules are rules just beat them at there own game learn to bend a little also I have a feelin that RPM"S will be checked every pull this year on open gear tractors in east tn.

what good does it do to come to the meeting when there is all you farmall and moline people that pulls open gear and you bit** cause someon beats you. its OPEN GEAR. not lets turn a few rpms and yank the TA in and then pull it back out. nut up or shut up boys turn em loose the speed imit is enough to keep everyone in check.

maybe we need to go back to the way it use to be and enforce the rpm rule and do away with the mph, find away to check them on the track and then most of us with small motors would really be out, i was pulling then and beleive me those big motor was almost ner to never beat, we have always had an rpm limit at etatpa never had no way to really enforce it fairly, i voted for the mph because that put me & everyone equal, then i got to win some,unlimited rpm is not fair to big cu. ,nor is no mph & a set rpm fair to little cu. now we are lookin to enforce the rules,found away to check rpms and u can tell the ones turning over is raising HELL, these are still antique tractors not component tractors, if ur gona turn them lose let us put tub frams billet alumnim head & blocks no cu. limit & no rpm them you can really see the deep pocket come alive for 2 dollar saturday evening trophy!!!

i agree i think 12mph should be the golden rule so if you wanna turn 5k go ahead im sure after we blow a few high dollar motors the RPMS will eventually cure itself (with the right safety equip)

personally, I think the rpm rule is crazy in a 12 mph class either you are running 12mph or you aren't, safety equipment should be in place for any tractor turning over 3k, steel flywheel and clutch assembly required plus a blanket or steel equivalent but the blanket is universally accepted. The big motor small motor argument is a wash, anyone that toots that horn needed to be in gordyville this past winter and watched that big shipman motor put it on those oliver and farmalls. It really doesn't make any difference just makes for a less entertaining show and the people wonder why there are few spectators.

If they are gonna restrict rpms and have a speed limit then they should not allow TA"s to be used. that is unfair to the rest of us cause we cant grab a gear when we pull. ETATA has some screwed up ways of doing thing and it sure is funny that no one complained until the JOKER and another big oliver came in and atarted winning. there is the one main click in east tn that thinks they run the show and if they dont get there way they have to complain until they get there way. GROW UP! turn them loose and go. im sure every one will find a way to do good and if you cant do that then stay home and leave your BS there.

Some clubs do not allow but so many RPM's because of the insurance. Some culbs like ours .. we dont have any open gear classes but we are working on some for the upcoming year .. Are a 50 RPM's over what the M&W book says for your tractor and thats it. We dont run down to the track and check everybodys RPM's unless that one man that isnt happy comes up and protests and that hasent happened in 3 years with us. We do have a MPH rule a 3.5 and a 6 but thinking of adding 4 open gear classes .. 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000 and if enough people want to go at the end of the night we can have a grudge match no speed limit you name the weight. But there will be a RPM limit of 3000. To many things could go wrong turning much more than that without a blanket. If you not happy with ET come to North Brook starting in March every third saturday of the month 12:00 is when you can sign up and the pull starts at 4

ETATA has a 2600 RPM limit and it requuired to have a scatter blanket. that is stupid in my opinion and i dont see the point in callin it an OPEN GEAR if there gonna do that

I've pulled with those guys for 12 plus years and always been treated well. Their rules are like any other club: weight,hitch height,tire size,and RPM'S. Any club has those simple rules. 12 mph is standard in most clubs and pulls just like 4mph. So why should they change the rules for two tractors(the JOKER and another big Oliver)? Sounds to me you should build them instead of buying them. There's not one main clique in East TN, so quit bashing a good club,if they're so stupid why is their indoor pull getting bigger ever year with people coming from FL and NY? Those guys are grownups trying to keep some child from getting hurt in the stands with a MPH rule and RPM rule not just turning them loose. So you need to stay at home and leave your BS there and quit talking smack about them.

Talking about TA"S on farmalls, it came factory. And div 5 rules states you can use them.So if it came that way you why you want to bi$$h about them .And if you dont like them well maybe you need to find another sport, because if it takes a TA to win that 2.00$ trophy you da# right im going to pull it, i come to win ,not set on the side lines and wish i could win....I have been around this club along time and every year some one is crying.Get over it and take your and spend some more money like the rest of us has done and quit rideing on (daddys) shirt tails .

big red a$$hole oops im sorry i mean tractor if you want to call your tractor an open gear tractor and use the TA then thats fine but i would be ashamed to say i pull open gear and shift the TA two times when i was pullin. and kiffin the reason your not complainin about the click im talkin about probly means your part of it. and its not just those two tractors. the rest of them dont wanna complain cause they know if the click is mad a them then it will hurt them in the long run cause thats how it works. yes it is a very good club but there is bad apples in every bunch and in this instance the bad apples think they run the show.

this is out of control ive been a member for 10 years now, imissed 2 pulls in that amount of time and i also have been screwed a time or two but im still a member and anyone thats a associate of any tractor pull club has felt like they have been screwed once anyway,we have alway supported our club by wearing the jackets,hats,t-shirts etc. & have been reconized whereever we have been so i guess im in the click, BUT theres no reason to get on here and bash the club or call it stupid, yes the club has some issues on the rules they are tring to correct, rewright the rules make it simpler to go by for everyone, i hope everyone can have a safe and good time at our pulls the club (click) will get this fixed and enforce the new rules beter than before and also the classes as of now states open gear most every antique pulls i have been to is called this & have a rpm limit some call it div. v if you go to a pull and they call it outlaw then you know what to expect most people that has pulled for sometime know this THE club is sorry for any confusion & etatpa will be up and running for a new reason, so come on and join us for some fun & exciting ANTIQUE TRACTOR PULLING this summer I'M PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF THE (CLICK) EAST TENNESSEE ANTIQUE TRACTOR PULL ASSOCATION

ever see a tractor after the clutch/flywheel exploded? I have!

yep seen one but that was the fault of the owner, never have seen one that broke when it was equipped with the proper pieces. Steel flywheel and clutch parts along with the blanket and tie bars never seen one of them explode. Never have seen much of anything explode at 2600 rpm's, I have farm tractors that make more than that at pto so I really don't understand the need for the limiting and if I ran one of the brands that allows for over 3k at 30% I would really be upset.

I am a little to the west from you all,and have been wanting to travel over to one of your pulls,if I come I will bring a tractor to pull that meets your local rules,this is what I do when I travel away from home to a host club to pull,take something to pull that meets local rules as all club rules might differ some,not all are the same but close enough to make for a enjoyable time and make some new friends along the way,now as to tractors turning to many rpms as to what I have been reading about here or having a T/A or no T/A,it seems to me SAFETY is first at all PULLS,I have a red tractor a 460 Farmall it is an outlaw puller,I only carry it where there is a CLASS for it,I have both a steel plate wrap around the bell housing and a scatter blanket,proper pulling clutch and steel flywheel,I run open gear and rpms,(5500-7100) it is a 301 motor and a T/A,also runs above the 12mph down the track,usually 19-21 mph down the track depending on sled and track conditions,it is not a HIGH DOLLAR tractor,I have more money in a 52 hp H farmall than the 460,Some of the folks complain about rpms ,mph,,I think about SAFETY and club rules no matter where I travel to a pull,local rules come first,do not go to a pull and start complaining about rules,just look around and find somewhere to go pull where the rules fit you and your tractor,makes for a much more enjoyable time to be had by all.Look forward to coming to East Tennessee and pulling with you all soon.
