Well,if you read my earlier post you know the trouble I had with RR beans last week.Well, the seed guy and I had a little meeting in the field this afternoon and after about 900.00 dollars worth of hell raising he is goin to refund all my seed money.Plus,I got him to pay half the fuel cost, and I keep the beans if they live and make anything.I was goin to him them up for labor cost but I thought better not push my luck.
Turns out they got a shipment of miss labeled sacks.

Thanks to all ya'll

Hello Steve. They had put regular beans in RR bags.I found out about 30 minutes ago that they had a bunch this way.Guess they madr it rite as possible.

Unless you have Crop Insurance to cover the lost income, I would not settle for seed and fuel.

40 bushel beans times 8.00 a bushel minus combining cost times the acres you lost.

I would go for $300 dollars an acre and pay for the seed.

Totally agree with Gary on this one. Not only lost the price of seed, fuel, and spray, the entire income for the year on that field was lost because of their stupidity. I would guess it should come in much higher than the price of seed.

I'm with Gary on this. You are out the total income off of those acres, plus cost of seedbed prep, fuel and time. If you had had your local coop spray your crop and they sprayed the wrong chemical and killed the whole field and they said , sorry, we won't charge you for doing it, Would you be satisfied? If they don't want to pay off till what's there is harvested, I'd want them to sign a paper admitting their liability. They are supposed to have insurance to cover their mistakes or eat it themselves. I'd want to know who else in the area had bad beans and how much they settled for. Sometimes you do need a lawyer. Chris

If it was my beans I would be in to see a lawyer. He can write a nasty letter and you will probably get a lot better results.

I sell seed also and you are not being taken care of. Whats this half fuel etc stuff. he is not out anyway it the company he selling for footing the bill anyway and they should have coverage for it. he need to step up and pay for tot al loss due to it was ther mistake here obviuosly, how ddi the other customes come out I wonder. Settling for the $900.00 dollars does not cut it in my eyes.

It's pretty late in the year to settle for that. When they did that to me on corn last year,at least I killed it early,Memorial weekend. We got a halfway decent crop with some 85 day seed replant. You've pretty much flushed the whole year down the drain on those beans haven't you?

I made it sound like I only got 900.00 dollars. My smart a** way of saying how much hell I had to raise to get them to pay for the beans.I am getting all the seed cost back from original order.Plus, this morning his boss called and asked me if I was alright with their deal and I told him that it could have been better.I am out the spray and fuel not to mention my time. So,I am getting enough RR beans to plant that specific field at their cost next year,my cost of beans from this years planting and all the fuel cost.Beans look like they may recover and make something.Thank ya'll for your interest.

Regular beans should not recover? At all?

I'd look to make the cost of renting the land out - $150 an acre 'here'.

I look at it like I am a tiny bit responsible, and the co is way responsible for the error. If I coulda found out & recovered in time to replant with something else, then they would owe for the replant costs.

At this point in time, they owe for my possible income from the land - typical rental rate. And I'd look for free seed next year.

I don't expect them to owe me for my max possible income - that is up to many variables & we can't assume. But, they do owe me the bottom line rent. Nothing less.
