Rust-Oleum Primer

I am in the process of cleaning up and painting the fenders for my 52 8N and am wondering if Rust-Oleum primer is compatible with Valspar Restoration series paint?

I would like to get the rust protection the Rust-Oleum primer provides under the new paint. The Restoration series primer does not seem to have the rust preventative in the paint

Give N Complete at nnalert they do quite a bit of tractor restoration they should give you an answer.

You can buy the BPS/valspar rust control primer by the gallon, and you can use the rattle cans over it with no problem.

FWIW.. I have 1 single time used a can of rusto primer on a small part, and then sprayed it ( was a stabilizer bracket ).. and have yet to have paint come off.

I have used rustoleum primer under all of my paint jobs. While I will be the first to admit I don't use first rate (read $$$) paint, mostly TSC Valspar paint - after 5+ years they all still look great.

YMMV,

i prefer krylon rust tough primer that stuff is amazing, i have heard good things about rustoleum xo rust being good stuff, but the krylon is great imo

I'd highly recommend Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer- used it on my 2N, and just used it on my 8N. Super easy to work with and covers well. Thin 4:1 with Acetone. BE SURE TO GIVE IT A COUPLE OF DAYS TO GAS OFF BEFORE TOP COATING!!!!

Thanks for all the information. I will be using the Rust-Oleum primer. I have had good results with it on other projects
