Safemark Multi-angle

Hi,

Running some 13.6-38 Safemark Multi Angles un-cut about 75-80%, 10 psi. Didn"t seem to bite at all on a fairly hard, dry track. Had a couple of guys tell me they had no good experiences with these tires. Are there others out there with the same view? Can they be cut to get performance from them? Looking for all the 2.5 cent words of wisdom I can get! Thanks for the help!

The Safemarks can be a good tire at times, but for the most part they are softer than some brands. With as much tread as yours have, and the fact that you are only running 10 psi, you have compounded the softness problem. They can be cut just like a Firestone. Mike

I have a pair of 15.5x38 Safemark tires. Was going to put them on my H to replace my nearly new 13.6x38s. So you (mike) think he should run more pressure in a safemark?

It will depend on what weight class the fellow pulls in. In a very light class 10 psi might work ok. But he should go UP in pressure, not down. The extra tread and soft pressure are compounding each other and allowing the bars to flex more than they should. More air will help this to some extent. Mike

unless you're pulling in the 500 lb. class...then yeah, you know. tire squat is bad. the drawbar goes down, and the middle of the tire sucks up off of the ground.

We are pulling #3500-4500. They are old and seem hard but maybe they are rolling. The center end of the bars have sort of a knob look to them which has the effect of a little more surface area right at the center of the tire where it contacts the track. Do you guys think that maybe a factor?

When you finish your pull look at the ruts your tires make. If it is flat on the bottom your air pressure is right. If the rut is high in the middle increase your air pressure. If you are making ruts that are deeper in the center, reduce your pressure. Mike
