Same tractors

I have a neigbor that is looking at a used Same trator and would like to know what you guys have to say about them. Thanks for any coments.

Do you mean like the TIMEX commercials say or how they really are ?

I had nothing but trouble with Timex and went to PULSAR way better watches !

I would check to see if there is a servicing dealer within reasonable driving distance. After you located such a dealer then go and visit the parts department and service department to see what complications are involved. Things such as hydraulic lines are probably not going to be SAE where you could grab something at the local NAPA. Of course get the model and serial number of the tractor in question before you go.

I think he means "takes a licking and keeps on ticking."

When at Farm Credit, had a customer who was a very successful dairy farmer- lotsa cows, lotsa pretty equipment, lotsa money, and one scruffy looking old SAME that spread the manure.

He explained that they bought it 25 years earlier, when they weren't so flush, when they really needed a tractor and it was all they could afford. Tried to trade it in some years later on a new Ford, and dealer wouldn't give them anything on it. So he decided to "run it till it drops". "Didn't even really maintain it for awhile, but it kept plugging away, and I felt a little guilty, so started maintaining it properly. That was 10 years ago, and that thing may outlive me."

All that being said, I have no idea where you would find a SAME part around here- not only is the dealer out of business, now he's dead. But I suppose you could find stuff online.

Ya'll knock um boys. Keeps them cheap.LOL Got a Deutz Fahr Agrofarm 100 and with fuel prices the way they are I'm happy to have it too. Good solid tractor and great on fuel.

what model? In the mid 80's or early 90's some of the Allis tractors were made by Same. An AGCO dealer can get parts for these.

I remember when they started coming to the states in the 70's, they sure loooked tough, but people were shy of them, not just parts, most had that 1000rpm pto? 4x4 was unproven on tractors, and air cooled was something only Volkswagens and lawnmowers had. What I admired was the front pto and usually 4x4, just the trick for snowblowers and deep drifts... since the whole world shops online internationally, I wouldn't worry about parts, as long as you -he has another tractor to use till the package from Italy arrives. If I ever find one for the right price I will probably get it just for the heck of it, I can afford to do that now, I coouldn't say that in 1977.... when they were the most loaded-and pyschodelic thing in the showroom...

Same is now duetz fahr was deuts allis and agco allis. They are tough as nails pretty trouble free. I been arountd them for over 30 years. They are different than american tractors and was not popular in all areas. I will admit that dealer support is no where near deere but our dealer is top notch. I would not thnk twice to buy another one but you must buy what you like.

We have three on our main farm. All bought new, first one my uncle bought in 76. Tough as nails. Have no trouble getting parts for them.

John knows the same tractor is broke, deere. How Farr is the dealer? Here, take a coat just in Case you have to cross the Ford.

Sorry, couldnt resist.
