sc shifter

greetings all,
a small stroke has preceeded my participation in the board as of late. my daughter has purchased a sc for next yrs fair, i aquired a later sc[ 2 right hand brakes ,left hand clutch arm,etc in case she might need something, but i actually revived no2 and runs quite well,lol. my question today is the early sc has a straight shifter in line with steering post, the later has shifter sort of bent over and up to the right side, and i beleive would be much longer if measured in lineral inches. is the "shaped" one correct for later sc"s that had moved the hand clutch lever to left side possibly to not interfere with clutch arm use?
ps i have been unable to stop the pto from spinning, but tho can clearly hear the lever engage when moved.i believed it was the fault of a falling off seat assembly not letting the lever travel but this turned out not to be the case. well, hope all is well with you and yours,

WELCOME Back then!! ,,. ,sc#2 is a 52 or newr .. newer models had ft clutch , But I prefer Hand clutch because it is tried and true.. compared to half baked ft clutch system of SC and Dc... These Models have live PTO and no brake to stop drag along ,so its always turning,," Thorn in the Side for Us Case Enthusiasts ", I BLAME CEO CLAUSEN who let the half baked idea s roll thru assembly ,despite CASE ENgineers Objections for more time to complte and correct deficiencies ,,, You could use type f ATF in hydro or Case HY Tech if PTO clutches are not heat warped it might help , Constant motion PTO is NATURE OF BEAST , Shifter is Correct for late Sc . hope you have larger carb than earlier model .piddling with old iron is good for the heart , mind , body and soul and , And I Know that Many of Us here Wish You well , jim

while Leon Clausen made many decisions that in retrospect hurt Case's sales his tenure lasted from 1924-1948 so I am not sure he is to blame for the lack of a pto brake. Shift lever was modified to avoid the later, higher seat position.

I must agree with you on clawson But I do also blame him for global warming the national debt and home loan problem. I have it on good athourity he has a phone in his grave.
