SC

Is my thinking correct that an S has the same engine as a SC? I would think they would, but from pictures I have seen the S looks like it has a larger engine.

The CaseIH site lists the same engine assembly for the S, the SC, and the SO.

Also, Tractor Data lists both the S and the SC engines as 4 cylinder, with a bore/stroke of 3.50 x 4.00 inches, and a displacement of 153.9 ci.

According to the above two sources, they are the same.

Of course, I have zero practical experience so you'll have to factor that in too! :shock:

S is just the standard version, SC is row crop and SO is orchard. Engine and transmission parts all the same. Same with D, DC, DO, or VA, VAC, VAO. There were also some industrial versions labled SI, DI, etc. There were some engine sizes changes in later year model versions of most of these tractor but it effected all of the model range.
