i have a 1948 9n ford tractor
where would i find or look for the serial number plate

They did not make a 9N in 1948. 9N where made from 1939 to 1942 then they started building the 2 N from 1942 to 1947. In 1948 they started building the 8N and it was built from 1948 to 1952. Serial numbers on all of the are on the left side of the engine about the center just below the head. 9N and 2N will both start with 9N and the 8N will start with 8N. 9N and 2N have 3 speed trannys and the 8N has a 4 speed
