Several propane questions

Ok I know nothing about propane and have a few questions. I am building a tractor that wasnt originally propane. I am using a propane tank like you might see on a forklift. The stock propane tanks have a vapor and liquid valve. My tank doesnt, will that be a problem? Will it run on liquid all the time? Also on the regulator the book shows coolant lines running through the regulator is this something you have to do? Will the fuel or line freeze right away? I guess I kinda need a lil knowledge of propane. Thanks!

A tractor usually will run on either vapor or liquid propane.

Depending on the ambient temperature and how hard the engine is sucking down fuel determines how much heat is needed to boil the liquid LP into vapor. If the rate is too high, it will start freezing up and the motor will start cutting out.

Usually, if engine water flow is good through the regulator (if you put one on this tractor), the heated water will provide plenty of heat to boil the fuel and you won't have any freeze up.

If the engine is small and you aren't pulling it too hard, it might run fine.

Not sure if you are asking this for a permanent solution on a tractor you'll use hard, or if you are just testing it out...

You will need the coolant lines through the regulator because to run the machine for any appreciable amount of time, you'll likely freeze the hi-lo tank. My 930 Case will freeze a tank at idle in relatively short order if you're drawing vapor. If you draw liquid, you'll freeze the regulator fairly quickly without coolant. With coolant lines hooked up, you'll only need to determine what position that hi-lo tank needs to be in to draw liquid. In any event, if you complete the coolant lines your tractor will be set to burn the fuel either way.

Ok this tractor is going to be slightly modified for pulling but I also intend to show it and take it on our antique clubs 30 mile tractor ride. From the sounds of it I will pretty much need to run the coolant lines regaurdless.

Moline puller I think I e-mailed you I had previously posted asking about propane carb and regulators. Like I said I know nothing about propane and have to get this tractor done by april. I appreciate everyones help!
