Well, never did find out who was or is behind it, but i searched the barn and fence high and low for holes, and found none. I took a scoop full of corn and walked the perimeter of the fence with the sheep on the other side, so no holes there either. Neighbors saw nothing, but then again they diddnt see the caretakers (and by looking at the animals they diddnt starve :-D ) so now the gates have nice shiny new chains and padlocks. Whats the world coming to. Sorry for my rant the other day. Also, my answering someones question about cats by the use of PETA seems to offend some people. I diddnt mean for that, i was answering his question , so sorry about that. I do think that certian peta people take things way too far. I wish there was a less-extereme group somewhere.

You need a good watch-dog, Lanse. Our gates along the road frontage all have padlocks, but those near the barn are protected by two farm mutts that don't let anything get by them.

Do you have enemies in the neighborhood?

yes, "people" That take my keys, teenagers who i wont sell eggs to before halloween, etc.

Up in New york, where i found my true passion, there are no locked gates. Uncle is in a valley, neighbors on all sides. Everyone calls everyone when something is strange. Last year, people to the north called to tell em there was a truck and strange people up near the cows, and off we went. Just some (tresspassing) hunters, but still, people are very watchful up there!!

When we had sheep they would stand around me all the while i was fixing fence it could be a couple of hours then as soon as i got done i would walk to the gate turn around to lock it and they would look at me and jump right over where i just fixed it. My wife did not want a hot fence so i was making them 6 foot high. May be with out someone there they were bored the grass is always greener...

Well, you may think I am joking but I am serious, maybe a radical memebr of your PETA community does not like that you have sheep that cant roam the earth free, like the deer and the wolves. How many sheep do you have, how many square feet do they each have? Maybe some one feels your sheep are being neglected or abused and are just trying to set your animals free. Happens quite often to mink farmers and other producers, who , just like you, like to raise animals. You'd better spend the money on surveilance camera's and post some signs like the rest of us. You said "I do think that certian peta people take things way too far. I wish there was a less-extereme group somewhere." Young man. This is the 2nd or 3rd time you have made this statement. Why do you support them at all. If you belong to a group and support them, you are indirectly a part of everything they do and people will judge you by that. Same as terrorism, which I think Peta is guilty of, your either a terrorist or your not.

I support them because.......i dont even know anymore. When i found them, i was quite taken, but ive heard of stories of people being shot by them. they are pretty radical, but they do have points i support, but they are way too close minded. They dont realise that people have lived raising animals for hundreds of years, and there is nothing wrong with it. They need spend more time dealing with animals crammed into cages they cant turn around in and less time on the rest.
