Shifting problem

Without the ORC on the pto, the transmission is wanting to operate being driven by the mower. Reducing the lenth of the drive shaft to the mower would give you the room to put the ORC back in place.

Many of us have experienced the tractor being driven forward by the rear implement driving the transmission.

Check as per picture,and possibly lessen amount of free play.......
Thank you for that JD. I replaced the clutch about 20 years ago and confess that I've not adjusted it since, although it feels like it has the right amount of freeplay. I'll take a closer look at it today.

Yes I think this may be the solution given the history of performance. But it won't come out of gear when I've completely stopped the tractor, the clutch is all the way in and the pto shaft isn't turning. I still have to reach down and take the pto out of gear to be able to shift the transmission. I'll be measuring the clutch freeplay accurately today but will likely end up putting that orc back on. I really appreciate all the good suggestions. I don't know where else I could get this information.
