Simplicity Broadmoor Hydrostatic Problem

I have a 16 HP Simplicity Broadmoor Lawn Tractor Serial 1692283 Hydrostatic Problem. It has the Hydro Gear Model 311-0750 Transaxle & when it gets warm it starts to slips pretty bad. My question is Should I overhaul or replace it? I have never worked on this. Any suggestions.

Unless you have the know how and tools,I would replace it. Make sure all idler pulleys move freely the belt is good and it has enough fluid in trans. before you replace it.

one thing you could try is changing the oil, unfortunatly you have to pull the trans to do so or suck as much as you can from the vent. Other wise you need a new center section, both blocks and pistons along with the filter and sealant. its fairly easy to do if you are really careful and pay close attention. is usally about half the price of replacing but i just changed the oil on mine and it is working alot better but i don't know for how long though
