Smallest Grinder Mixer

What is the smallest grinder mixer made. How hard would it be to find one of these used at a decent price?

Gehl model 65 was about 80 bu, circa late 60s. Parted mine out 20 years ago. Gear cluster in unloading system was something you didn"t want to fix twice.

I had a NH 340. Full load was something like 5000 pounds. I sold it 10-12 years ago, all painted up pretty and everything for $700.

ArtsWay made one that was in the 1 1/2 ton range. Maybe a model 220 or something like that? I had a 320 and it held 5000 lb. clear full. I have only seen the smaller model once. If you're from Minnesota there might possibly be one in you're neck of the woods. Jim

The Gehl 55 was even smaller than that. The 65 had a 65 bushell tank,the 55 was 55 bushels. I can't remember right off hand,was that a 12 inch mill? I know I could run my 65 with my Oliver Super 77.

What I'd really like to find is an old, cheap, and in reasonably good shape hammer mill. I don't have that much feed to grind. I just raise a few pigs and some chickens. It is much cheaper grinding my own than buying it by the bag at the feed store.

I don"t have livestock anymore, so I sold my Gehl 95 last year for $700, to a neighbor. Still have the Lorenz Model 100, virtually new banded drive belt, (over $100) mill is good, I think the tank has some rust spots, gear box is good, unloading (hydraulic motors) augers were slow. Basically a parts machine, but depending where you are in MN, might be worth looking at to use or for parts. email is open.

Have you thought about a "Burr" mill? I have a Letz 220x that I use for chicken feed. It will grind it just about any way you want. I've seen them go for anywhere from $25 up to $75 at auctions.

I have a neigbor who raises several hogs. He grinds feed for me for a nominal fee. Cheaper than the local feed store and for less than I could afford to do it myself. I have a model 65, 68, or something JD auger wagon I haul it on. It holds 2 tons nicely.

Send me an email with your zipcode. I have a press that is about 12"x18" that hangs on the wall. Grinders go for scrap prices and less here (sometimes a couple of bucks). They usually run on 380 volts though. May be a plus for you if you have a motor to put on it yourself. Postage would be the expense. Could be up to 50 bucks or a little more (based on 70 pounds which is the max I can mail.

If i can help anyone else out, let me know. A lot of stuff you folks are paying a bunch for is just setting on the roadside for pickup when people clean up the old places. Postage can be a restriction though.
