Smart A$$ replies

This forum was developed to ask and answer questions people have when dealing with IH tractors.
In my case, if I am working on a tractor in my collection and need advise or an answer to a problem I come to this forum.
I don't need any smart a$$ replies from punks trying to be funny, I appreciate the knowledge from gentlemen who help me out and point me in the right direction.

With this being said, all you smart a$$ punks go back to the deere board.

The only thing that bothers me is somebody with a case of the red-a$$ and no sense of humor. Maybe you should slightly alter your name, it"d be more fitting.

Just how many times past 400, do folks ask the same questions? Duh....what kind of oil do I put in my tractor? Duh....why can"t I get a 9/16" bolt off with a 1/2" wrench? Duh, how come my gas tractor died when I filled it up with diesel fuel? Duh,....will a clutch out of a 986 fit my Cub.....they both say IH on them?

By and by it gets old.

Yep, it can get old, and some of the comments back are just good natured rib pokin. But i never realized this forum was exclusive to only folks like you and me that know most of the answers already. Heck, most IH collectors i know are more than willing to answer the same question as many times as it comes to help out a new guy.
The only legacy a man can leave behind in this world is how he treated other folks and his family. I say let the redundancy continue. I sure don't know it all, and darn sure not years ago when i started collecting.

I had the same experience on this forum when I first posted, I have grown up with red underwear, and while trying to assist someone else my advice was called into question by being refered to as a wives tale. I spent several posts to support my advice, after that I chose to ignor those who forgot they were in kindergarten at one time and now they have a vast amount of knowledge. There are still those of us that new all the answers, now ask some for advice to stay current. There are people on this site more than willing to help, I have been watching, take their advice, make your life better and ignor those who aren 't and want to make themselves feel superior.

Most I've seen is good natured ribbing and most take it well. Only once in recent memory do I recall it getting out of hand. I have several different colors in the barn and the more the years go by the easier it is for me to get confused between tractors. This site is far more active than most, a couple have a full week on one page. Sometimes, just reading the headline, you know the SMACK is coming. BornIHRed: We've probably hashed this enough. After all, it was you who, when told you should get a manual said, "Can I borrow yours?" That retort pretty well opened it up for smart a$$ answers right then. So, you are not without blame either. Let's move on, start over and be civil to each other.

Exactly! When you get a bunch together, regardless of what color hat they are wearing...and somebody asks something....I don"t care what it is....there"s going to be some snickering or rib poking. It"s the nature of people. Nobody is out to slam or denigrate anybody...just having some fun. Sad part is, many have thin skin and cannot stand the thought of fun at their expense. Hehe.....that just eggs the
pokers on.

I would look at the forums, most people will help you, some people post comments when their coffee cup is empty, need their depression meds, wake up on the wrong side of the bed, have a burr in their bloomers, etc. Don't let it ruin your outlook on things, there are people who want to think they are big shots and they are only spurt, or they like to see their names on here, I do know know. I have been here since 1998 or so, have learned a lot, eventually you will find out who knows what they are talking about and the ones who post a lot and say nothing. Ask all the questions you want, ignore the ones with bad manners, because a old fellow told me a loooonnngggg time ago. DUMB QUESTIONS ARE A LOT EASIER TO HANDLE THAN DUMB MISTAKES! I have lived by that for years, worked good for me and anyone I hire to work for me. If the answer to your question has been posted 400 or more times, big deal, by asking questions, it lets the people on here get to know you and you get to know us. It is nice so see new people on here that actually want to learn something. Welcome aboard.

I can understand and agree with what you say. But why the stab at the deere board. I have both JD and IH tractors...both work well for me. Not sure why the need to slam deere enthusiasts. Seems like this is the pot calling the kettle black.

Ya know ya can always stop reading a post that don't sit well with ya ? That's what I do . I not only ask some foolish questions but give some foolish answers especially after a few nightcaps . My complaint ios nnot only the smart a$$ replies but ones who never answer your question . hey want mostly to argues whether to buy new or make or bny used etc. I had a friend that asked about Farmall brakes the other day and the answers were 80% rediculous. Several approached the problem directly and helped him solve the problem. Kack

I read that a few days/week ago and thought "what has this ole boy been smokin'?", borrow an owners manual... I found mine brand new on EBAY for $20... It deserved a good natured smartass reply, but not one that was hateful.
