SMOKE

My Jubilee will smoke for a few seconds
when I first apply power then stops..
The plugs do not show any oil and it
seems to stay close to full on the dip stick.
Oil blows out of the breather on the valve cover.
Could this be worn valve guides? The engine runs
like a fine sewing machine...

It sounds like worn piston rings allowing to much blow-by.

Blue smoke or black smoke?
Do plugs show soot deposits?
Are they all similar?
Need a little more information before anyone is able to do anything better than guess.

All plugs are clean without any soot.
The smoke seems to be mostly black,
it only happens when I apply a lot of power
suddenly then goes away. No smoke is visable
running at full throttle or at operating speeds
The oil level will be down about a pint in 10 hours.

I Agree with NATIVE... In Ten Hrs Run Time an Engine can Burn "that" Much Oil and NOT Soot up the Plugs.. Larry KF4LKU

Right, if smoke is black it is most likely unburned fuel. Blue smoke is usually indicative of oil going down the guides. Oil down the guides usually builds up at idle (high vacuum in the inlet) and then burns blue when the revs are increased (and the oil is dragged through) but not necessarily for a lot of power. Most likely governor is putting carb temporarily too far open or there is an extra jet for acceleration. Don't know about the particular carb on it, so someone else will prolly now know how to deal with it.
