Video shows the smoking issue. Also shows driving it before the oil change. We changed the oil then pulled the kiddie barrel train for 2 hours straight. Was smoking badly by the end of that day

Used this oil

The high detergent count in that oil may have cleaned the carbon out from behind the piston rings and they loosened up allowing oil to pass by the oil rings. The older motor oils and non detergent oils allowed carbon deposits to build up everywhere in an engine back then. I have seen that happen to a couple of engines. and I learned the hard way to not use a modern high detergent oil in an old engine that had been run with the oils of that day and time. We had one engine that the detergent loosened enough junk to clog the oil pump and starve the oil pump and connecting rods.

Roger, didn't use enough oil to see a difference on the dip stick. Never over heated. ( I always test temp gauge before installing)I kept an eye on the gauges. Oil pressure stayed good, too. Unfortunately,99 percent of the 2 hours was just above an idle, just puttering around pulling the train.

If running rich it can cause it to have that happen due the to much gas which in turn mixes with the oil and blow out the exhaust. If like most carbs on the B/C the main jet is fixed and can cause such problems

I have a 1936 WC. I have used Straight 30w Non-detergent since I bought it in July of 2011.

This is a picture of the inside of the block I took the winter of 2021, when I replaced the front and rear main seals... Untouched, I did not clean it.... Doesn't smoke, doesn't use any oil...
