I brought home this SMTA yesterday. It is supposed to run although I could not get it started to load it. I know and trust the guy I bought it from, so when it he said it has started and run well in the past, I believe him. It has just set outside for several months since it was last run. I determined the ignition points are rather corroded and the needle valve in the carb is stuck closed. So new points & condenser and a carb rebuild and it should run again! As you can see it looks kinda rough, and it needs a few things other things, a battery box for one, hood is missing too and it badly needs a power wash as it is FILTHY!

Looks like a seat wouldn't hurt either. Nice save!

Looks like you got a rare one as I see a fast-hitch in the pics. Not a lot of them got fitted with the fast-hitches.

Here is the mower. I have the seat for the tractor, the battery box under it just rusted out and came loose. Once I get the tractor running and can see how well the loader works, I will decide if I want to keep it or not. I can make use of a loader tractor.

The mower fast hitch prongs look to be for a Small frame tractor like a Super C or 230 tractor. The fast Hitch on the tractor looks like a 300 or larger FH. Jim
Not claiming to know for sure anymore but from what I remember all fast hitch mowers were the small point. Needed to use the spacers on a large socket hitch.

You are correct, the mower prongs are the small point 2-1/2” tall. The sockets in the fast hitch are 3” tall. I don’t have the factory spacers, but it won’t be hard to make some out of 1/2” thick steel.

Oops I misspoke. I had a CP-24-P and that is what that mower is. The IH dealer used the 25 and 27 V to look up a lot of the parts for the mower since they are basically the same except for the 2 point.

I don’t think this one is that either. I do have another fast hitch mower that is the pitman type and the sickle bar and drive mechanism is the same as the 27v, but this mower I just got is the pitman-less type. The cutter bar may be the same, but everything else is totally different.

Here is the CP 24 P info. Notice the owners manual in the one side picture .

That looks like the other fast hitch mower have, but is very different than the one I posted pictures of above. The one I just got is what is called a “balanced head“ mower.

Oh heck I'm sorry when I first looked at it I thought it had a pitman arm. This mower is a 100 since it has the wobble box. The pictures would not open up so I could enlarge them to see the wobble box. I sold the CP 24 many years ago and bought a 100. I had to have the box gone through by Rouse rakes since it was full of water, but is twice the mower that CP 24 was!!!!!

I have SMTA also with Duel loader but run hydraulics off of PTO pump. My SMTA was in pretty bad shape when I got it. Sat a while with no exhaust so was stuck. Also TA not working. I have gradually fixed it up and is now a pretty good tractor. I put loader on it and really like it since it has lots of lift. I have aftermarket 3 point on mine. I don't see TA handle in your pictures.

TA handle and all external linkage was missing when I bought the tractor. I can only assume the TA does not work. I might have some or all of the missing parts.
