That would be great on the front of my Wagner WM4 loader. The guys in the North East look like they are going to get a lot of snow this weekend! Some guys get all the fun!

Pop Gun,

It is running like a top! I spoke to a mechanic and he told me that the Pertronix Electronic ignition probably needs higher RPM's to make it fire than points do. So I wonder if my failing starter with lower and lower cranking RPM's was the issue? I have always had all four gaskets that are required on the distributor. I don't know what else to do.

Great, I wonder if ya can use a 6V starter with a 12 V sys. It would spin faster? But I am not well schooled in these matters. Ill ask.

The original 6v starter, when unchanged in a system that becomes 12v, bangs into the ring gear due to the extra voltage. I put in a field coil in the starter which cauesd it to run more slowly, no more banging...

Yes, you can use a 12 volt battery with a 6 volt starter and yes it will spin faster. I've done it for years on my 8-n. The only thing to watch is not to grind on it for a long period of time if the engine doesn't start right away. BTW, my neighbor built the plow pictured. He made it out of a large culvert from a stone quary. I thought someone on here might like it because it looks alot like the one Dearborn made for the n-series. I have another blade set up or I'd buy it myself.

Yes, you can run the 6V starter with a 12V conversion.
I have four of them that way.
I didn't make any other modifications to the starter circuit.
As was said, you don't want to grind on the starter too long,
but that's usually not an issue because they start so fast the
starter never even gets warm (or damaged).

You might have to click on the second link to bring up the picture.I forgot to mention that there is a round adjustable foot in the front center if you don't want the center point to dig in. Possible help in delivering if needed.
