Snow Removal

I thought you all might be interested. You helped me with a charging problem about a year ago. We don't get much snow here usually, less than an inch I'd guess. Last year we got around 40" and this year so far 8".

So, anyway, we don't have chains or any other really useful snow removal equipment but here's dad knocking the snow down a little so my wifes car will go over it.

I think I might spring for chains, I think it'll make it easier to drag snow.

Chriskat,

Yipes...If I were living where it usually snowed an inch...I'd have had the
moving van packed and idling at about inch #20!!!

Thank God for global warming, otherwise you'd be in serious
trouble. ;=)

I've owned one set of chains, never used them and don't have them now. Sure, on rare occassions we get dumped on here in SE Mich. and I have to work a little harder to clear it.
My Jube has foam filled turf (industrial) tires with a back blade. My 8N has the Wagner WM3 loader and loaded ag tires. This is not to say that I won't get stuck or have to change tractors in the middle of the job.
Fun comes in all forms of snow plowing.

I use to live up ther in snow country near nnalert Tractor, and we use to get a bunch of that white stuff (Colebrook). I DONT MISS IT! Pete the warm.

Pete,

Yer a mean person! ;=)

Hmmmm...just how much snow have I shoveled here...

We bought this place from the Kings about 16 yrs ago...average snowfall approx 55" x 16 = OMG!, a LOT!

When did you move away?

Tim

I have a 1948 8n that I just purchased this late spring. This is my first tractor and I am so glad I bought this thing! It came with a 4 foot brushcutter, a 7 foot back blade, a nice all hydrolic loader, a huge box of misc. parts, a seat cushion and the best winter piece any one could ask for... a set of gangly tire chains that make this thing almost unstoppable. I live in central MN and never enjoyed moving snow on my new hobby farm so much.

Tim, I moved here to SUNNY SW Fla. in 86' and never looked back! I use to change tires for Orwell tire. I was the on farm mobil repair guy from 83' to 86' Man it was nasty. I also changed some tires for Don King, they kept running over thorn apple trees all the time, each time you went out there you could count on at least 8 patches, crazy!

I have yet to shovel any snow, always lived in Tx,now Tn,very little snow. It's pretty, and makes good pics, but the shoveling part is where it stops being pretty. My $0.02 ---lha

We just wait a couple, or 3 days (ok, I have seen take a week or so), and it will be 60* to 70*....

Dunk,

Same here, that snow happened last Sunday into Monday; it was 55 today! It'll be gone shortly I hope.

Last year I put off putting my chains on and then got sick. For the first year in many years we had considerable snowfall. The tractor was in the barn and the blade was out in the lot in a 4 foot drift. I had to hire my drive graded, oh the humility. This year I've got the chains on, the blade on, it's backed into the barn with a block heater installed. It won't snow this year.
