snowplow needs help

My snowplow is powered by a 12vdc Haldex pump with rocker-switch controls in the cab (raise, lower, turn left-right). Unit was purchased new 2 yrs. ago from Northern Tool. This winter it started acting up. The motor runs but it doesn't seem to be building pressure. It operates the movements very slow, if at all. It worked fine the last 2 winters. The reservoir (mounted directly beneath the motor)is full of fluid (manufacturer calls for transmission fluid). I did try bleeding the lines for air and also added a cap full of isoheet for moisture. Still the motor spins but no movement of cylinders. Anybody????????

Dose the unit have cables opperating the controls from the cab to the pump? If so make sure the bends in the cable are not to sharp,nice gradual arc need or the inner cable get's pinched and won't move properly. I work on the same tyoe off problem with a old western snow plow after 2 day's of working on it I bought a manual and 10 min later I was plowing like a champ. Huh who woulda thunk to read a manual? I would install a pressure gauge and see if there's any pressure. Could be a defective pump.
Call Haldex at 1-800-572-7867 to see if they have any troubleshooting hints. Hal

Clean all your connections, especially the ground on the plow end. You could show voltage on a meter, but poor connections will not draw current. If the connector on the vehicle has been open to the elements all year, it could have crud making a good connection tough. Just went through this on a plow last week: Poor ground connection at the connector. Unit ran fine at end of last season and poof!, wouldn't work when hooked up this year.

It almost sounds like there is no movement in the valve part of the assembly, Does this have the coils on the valve assembly like MEYERS, if so maybe the coils are getting weak and or the small valves(like a needle valve) could have some rust or is hanging up in the body,this will cause the fluid just to recirculate back to the reservoir.Hope this helps.

I had a similar problem last year. Turned out to be ice in the reservoir. Drain your oil, unhook your angle left & right hoses, pull motor off the reservoir. Jack the blade up so you can rotate it back and forth by hand, to get all the oil out of the hyd rams. Clean ALL the oil out of the reservoir. Put it all back together and fill with oil. (its easier to fill with oil before you put the motor back on)
