Soaked pumpkin seeds drying out

I wanted to give the pumpkins seeds a jump start, so I laid them between wet paper towels for 16 hours before planting. I thought I would be planting into somewhat moist soil, and they were calling for rain....well, it was dry soil and no rain. The seeds have shrunk back down...they were getting plump after soaking.

They are laying dry and it looks like 4-5 more dry days.....this was abotu 500 seeds.

What will happen to them?
Will the germination be lower, will they not grow at all?

I am probably a pi-- poor person to post here but here goes.
Some seeds you can put in the freezer for a month to simulate winter freese. Put in water after thaw scarify (small cut) then start in pot or plant in ground.
I have a old tree that small trees pop up every year. When I dig them the roots are about 14' down to and old seed the roots, seem to connect to other small trees.
So having said all that, I have had no luck transplanting small trees.
Let me know how yours come out.
