Yes Richard I tend to agree with you. Ive read that early models are not and later ones are so I would say that it is a early model.
 
if you can find one of these pond scoops made by ford, they work really well and are built heavy.

The scoop in that picture can be reversed, it has two lift pins on each side so that you can hook it up in either direction. Here in Alabama this implement is known as a slip pan. One of the best pieces of equipment to have around in my opinion, matter of fact I was planning on using mine this evening as it was already hooked up to my TO-30 but couldn't get her to crank, no fire, will have to tinker on it tomorrow, may swap the condenser out.
