Haven't used it much since we stopped baling hay,and since we bought the Massey Ferguson backhoe/loader. Decided it was time to let it go. Second tractor we bought, 8 years ago. Bitter sweet, but I hate to see a tractor sit around. It went to a guy that ended up with all my hay equipment. He already has a Ford 961 now he has 960,too.

It’s always hard getting rid of a tractor. I remember when you started haying with it. I’m sure the new owner will be happy with it and the rest of the equipment. Probably loosen up the pocket book for more projects ! What you guys do with all the tractors is amazing ! Keep going !

960 was the first tractor I personally purchased, about 1985 or so. I was leaving the family farm and all the equipment I had been using. The 960 had been used with the mounted corn picker, one axle housing had been broken and welded, it was close, but eventually the bearing went. It had thrown a rod at some time and the block had been repaired. It had led a hard life. It started and ran and the tires were good and had live PTO.

I replaced the rear axle housing, replaced the clutch when it went, overhauled the engine at some point, tho not as thoroughly as I would now. Still have it, along with some of its relatives. Still 6v, starts easily, runs fine, leaks a bit, still on the same tires, sod work doesn't wear them like row cropping.

The day it came, and the VAC Case which I traded in on it. Lots going on then.

Block repair. It seeps a little bit.

At work - 961 grill which was what I could find (pre-internet). It came without a grill.

Anyway - good tractors for that scale of farming. I grew up with utility tractors for the most part, but got used to the row crops pretty quickly. They were selling for significantly less than utilities back then. They turn sharp.
