Something a little different

Not exactly pulling talk, but the conversation has been slow the last few days anyway.

We are looking for some "tractor games" or ideas for something to do to get people on their tractors and maybe get a few running.

At a 3 day weekend tractor show in the summer, we have a tractor pull on friday night, and again on saturday night. We are looking for something to do during the day on saturday to get some tractors running and moving. You can only walk up and down the rows of tractors looking for so long.

Thought of having a slowest tractor race on the track in front of the stands.

Anyone have any other ideas?

There is a dyno there, and it always draws a crowd as soon as something starts barking away making noise and smoke.

We tried a parade but that didn't work out.

Just looking for something to get drivers, owners and spectators interested between breakfast and the evening pull on saturday.

Teter-toter, Driving around a course and backing a 4 wheel wagon into a parking place. What about a drag race for say 300 ft?

Blind-fold race is a blast. Set up an course out of road cones, driver is blind-folded, passenger stands on the draw bar and gives directions...Timed

How about pulling a chain, piled-up, out of a squared circle and then working it back into the box? This is a timed event.

They do this during intermission at one of our pulls. It is done with a lawn and garden tractor with trailer for safety. It appears to be a crowd pleaser.

Do a two person blindfolded slalom. Put one blindfolded person in the drivers seat, and the other on the platform/fender of the tractor giving directions. Its even more entertaining if its a husband/wife team.

What we are trying this year is a colors challenge. We have red, green and blue dealerships her in town and we're going to challenge them to enter a new tractor to compete against the other colors. The winner will get a traveling trophy to display all year and the trophy will go to the winner the following year for them to display. Just an idea...

How about a tractor ride! We have a ice cream shop about 7 miles away and all jump on the old iron and go for a ride. Some have trailers and bring children and grandchildren. Its fun to see all the old iron cruising the streets like muscle cars on Saturday night! Love it!

During our hometown celabration, we have tractor games. Events include; slow race, barrel race (timed pushing a 55 gl barrel with the front wheels around a cone and back to the starting line) chain race (timed dragging a long chain out of a circle then putting it back) blindfold race (husbands and wives are HILARIOUS) and finally the drag race which is a BLAST! We only go 50 yds or so, everybody is pretty well topped out by then, and our shutdown area is a little rough. We throw $5 in the pot per event and pay out through 3rd place. Its a riot.
We have trying to get a pull lined up in conjunction with all of this, but have not been succesful yet. Talk is of a "tractor decathlon" with a "king of the hill". I have been pulling for years, but really look forward to tractor games every August. I think it would be a hoot to combine the two.

A quick start drag race. I have seen it done as the intermission at a combine demo derby. First person to hand start and drive 50 ft wins.
