Hi,
I have a 675 briggs engine off of pressure washer that has a vertical shaft. My 13 year old son want to make some with this engine. Does anyone have any ideas.

another thing that i always thought would be handy is a portable hydraulic unit.something you could use to operate a cyl(s) if you bought a piece of equipment at auction.

Done it several times. After all most riding mowers are that way.

Find and old garden tractor and from there build a ground up real mini tractor so he can use it to plow and dick the garden with it and if done right you can set it up to have a good mini speeds

Hovercraft!!

Plywood deck with air holes, tractor tube for the skirt.

Fabricate a prop (mower blade is a good start) and a guard (for safety and to support the craft when earthbound).

Post, vertical with kill switch, throttle and to hang on to.

Rev it up and let the balancing act begin!

Made one when I was a kid. No pic--Did they even have cameras back then?

There is actually a video on u-tube that shows how to convert a vertical shaft Briggs to horizontal. In the opening, its shown on a go-kart.

I strongly recommend NOT building a hover craft. My dad did 40+ years ago using a small 2-cycle lawnmower engine. He fabricated a prop out of aluminum bar stock. The long and short of it was that the prop failed and thanks the lord no one was hit. The end of the prop that came off was driven into the dirt (hard clay) about 12" and the machine essentially shook itself a part.

If you decide to do it, please use a real prop and consider the forces invoved, particualrly in the case of a catestrophic failure.

use a lawn tractor back axle with the vertical belt dive pulley on top of axle, should be able to find a couple at srap yard, common MTD design. May need to replace seals and lube but local scrap yard gets a few relatively new scrapped each year with blown engines that never got oil changed or checked- newest engines have oil minder so not as many brand new ones blown under warrantee. 1/2 turn twisted belt is other option, just need it long enough to flex a bit without rubbing and hopping off pulley. RN
