SOS problems I could use some help

I have a Ford 901 with the SOS trans . I was running under 3rd gear without a load and the tractor stopped moving forward. I have no speeds not even reverse and the PTO doesn"t spin now also. It makes a noise which sounds like a Buzzing noise or what might be called a whine. Any help greatly appreciated as to what it might be . I have the manuals.

My first thought was that your torgue clutch in your flywheel let go. But if it buzzes - - - is it possible your oil level is too low?

Do you know where I could find a torque absorber disk/shaft for an SOS 4000 3 cylinder?

The oil was the first thing I checkd . Its where it should be.

Larry,

The buzzing noise is the splines screeching past each other on the input shaft. It'll tone down if he runs it long enough!

I'd remove the starter and use a flashlight and flexible mirror to confirm the stripped shaft theory. Turn the flywheel by hand and see if the input shaft stays or turns with it.

Not unless a '68 3000 is the same, and even then I think my clutch hub is bent a little. It maybe could be straightened, but I wouldn't want to guarantee it.

Hey Bern. Good to see you again. I'd a never thoight about a buzz for stripped splines in a million years. Guess I've never been around one that did that.

I have heard that very distinctive sound before - sounds kinda like $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :shock:

My experience was with the trans output shaft to the transfer case on a Dodge Powerwagon that let go when I went to take off from a stoplight (stupid light, it was the next to last one I had to go under on the way home and I was about 80 miles from home and it just had to catch me).

If it is a stripped spline then both parts are toast already - no need to even think about salvaging either side of the connection.
