Well... i planted twenty acres of soybeans for the first time ever and then i find out seed should have inoculant. now what can i do???this was fielders choice roundup ready treat beans which i thought was ready to go but a frind asked if i put inoculant on... whats gonna happen? thanks for any help...

The treatment that came on the seed is for disease and insects. The inoculat is a live bacteria that helps the plant fix nitrogen and grow and reproduce better. It is mostly helpful if soybeans have not been planted in that field for a few years. I always inoculate my seed. I would not worry about it. Most people these days don't do it.

It will be ok.

The inoculant helps the beans fix more N.

There will be some in the soil, even without planting beans there. Might not be quite as much as with a good one added, but it will work itself out.

Really no way to add it now anyhow - needs to be right there on the seed when it sprouts, so no point worrying about it.

I've been using it for the past 5-6 years, doesn't cost much, easy enough to add. Can
t prove it helps any as I don't do any test strips - with my varriable soils it would be hard to test anyhow.

I need some of that inoculant for black-eyed peas to plow under in the fall. Where can I get it? I have tried to find it here and everyone looks at you like somethings wrong with ya. Could you give me a source to order from> Thanks

Albert Lea Seed House (southern MN, they are on the internet, better to call and talk to them for real info) has several types of inoculant, donno if black eyed peas fit one of their types?

Thanks Paul. I will call them to see. I want to plow these down in the fall for organic matter and think it would help to have more N if I can.
