Spark Plug Wires

is Kool-Aid standing in for something? or you actually don't drink it?
Not a common expression in Alberta?
First question: It's a metaphor for following bad advice. Look up the Jonestown massacre.
Second question: Awful stuff. It has been done, but why?

I found Bob's thread about the coil conversion. Unfortunately none of the photos are available and there is no verbal description.

Not a common expression, or at least that I’ve heard of.

This use to be a busy place its slowed to a craw in the last few years. I use to believe if one had a mechanical mind and visited this site regular he could master N's. If one hammed his point enoufh he could make his followers a believer. I am very capable I can make my own mind up I don't drink the Kool-Aid.

You must run a solid core plug wire true are false.
If you drink the Kool-Aid then its true
If you don't its false.
I don't drink the Kool-Aid.

Hobo, not a kool aid drinker here.

You can run what wires you choose.

I don't see any advantages to using suppression wire on a points system.

I used to enjoy running copper wires and non-resistor plugs in my cars and trucks, back in the days people had AM radios............

I drank the copper wire coolaid long ago. 60 years of kick start motorcycles made a believer out of me. I put copper on anything it won't blow out.

Yeah I can see that, my brother has a 450 Honda bike that is really hard to start, gonna want a STRONG spark, same as if one was to try crank starting the N series

I don’t for see it making a difference, enjoy the Kool-Aid… I have kick started my share that was back in the day when it was cool to kick start’em. There were some who did more kick’n than I, I don’t think it was the plug wires.

Hi Hobo, thought it try it, ( not the kool-aid, 😆 ) but doing a test. Just fired up an 8n sidemount, copper wires with points. 44°. As it warmed up i took the EI suppression wires this site sells, off a another 8n with Pertronix EI. Swapped wires, and boom, points 8n fired right up on the EI wires. Ran just fine in the shop.

Hobo.
Curious! Do you happen to know the resistance, Ohm/ft, of the suppression wires you use?

Drinking the Kool-Aid in this use means to comply unquestioningly with the demands or policies of a particular leader, ideology, or organization. It has it base in a 1978 mass suicide incident in Guyana.
It actually predates Jonestown. It goes back to the 1968 book "The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test" (the acid being LSD). But it was co-opted on a huge scale after Jonestown - and, as Jim points out, incorrectly.

Funny part is that it was not Kool-Aid at Jonestown. It was Flavor Aid.

All NAPA has to say about resistance is:
Our wires are engineered to offer low
resistance and high inductance. This
means higher voltage and more power
that’s transferred faster and with more
strength,
I know enough about this to understand most of the words, but don't ask me why they were put in that order.

As for the Kool Aid, I sit corrected and much prefer the less grizzly origins of the expression. Found looking for 'Further' information:
