spark plugs

If your talking about the A-C of yours, I do prefer Autolites. Either the 303s or 295s. I've had good luck with both. Bucking conventional opinions I have also done fine with Champion C7s. Kip

i run AC R45 in my wd45. i have had them in there for several years with no problems. i like the ac over the autolites and champions

Well Matty looks like the general is to run the hottest plug made but i beat i guess to a different drum and run the coldest plug that dont foul for performance.

if you are talking about the AC plugs fouling out i have never had a problem with any of them and they have been in there for 3 years since mr. tommy richardson helped me build the engine. i guess it is your chose on what you run but i havent had any problems and i like the AC

ac r 45 is a hot resitor plug the ac r45 ts is still a resistor plug but has a projected tip . resistor plugs like the ac r 45 and the ac 303 are bad choices the autolite 295 isnt a resistor plug but its still not a good choice for its only a 3/8 reach plug. As for heat ranges I like the coldest range that doesnt foul for performance.

KIP suggested a champion c7s plug the c represent the body 3/4 reach 5/8 wrench size the 7 is the heat range. in champion 1 is the coldest 25 is the hottest the s denotes the electrode I think a m there would be better it would be a projected tip then . that plug is also a non resistor plug which is good . I still dont think much of the brand but different brands are like cars everybody has a choice.

i run a petronics electronic ignition on my tractor with the 40000 volt coil and the ac plugs. it never has fouled one in 3 years of pulling and never stalls out so it would be up to you as to what you run. i know this setup works for me but you have to pick who you gonna listen to. i also run 110 racing fuel in mine. i dont like to work on my tractors at the pull so i go with what works the best for me and they are the AC plugs. i put AC plugs in my moline also and have never had any problem with them.

I agree totally jd plowboy a ac 45 plug is so hot it would be verry hard to make it foul especially if its the 3/8 reach. 3/4 reach you would be looking like a diesel before it would foul. You say jt helped you build the engine so that tells me its not got alot of compression for jt didnt believe in compression . You also stated youre running 110 octane gas . I wonder if that is simply due to the sparkplugs heat range. It works for you so stay with it. For the most part engine compression octane rating of fuel and timming can have a affect on what plug works for one but doesnt for another. You never want the spark plug to become a glow plug because it doesnt reject its heat soon enough.

he might have not liked alot of compression but when i talked to him he told me we needed compression so that is how i built it. i didnt say he built it i said he helped me with it and i got his cam in it and some other parts that he ran on his tractors. i bought his wc that he won the points with and this one would out pull it everytime with no problem and it had a bigger engine than mine does. mine is setup different than the ones he built. i just used some of his knowledge and we put it together and it works like a champ. it has out pulled some good farmall m and some good olivers in the past to be such a small engine. there is a big wd from ga that it will get right up there with if the track is good

OK what is youre compression ratio. how did you do against the d17 of the big guys and the real light wc of his tire cutting budy? That m you beat wouldnt have been mike lazenbys would it ? that wd from georgia does it have painted chrome wheels ? you havent said if youre running 3/8 reach or 3/4 reach either? still there is no one magic plug for all ac engine builds ignition recurves, ignition timming ,compression ratio , lean air /fuel ratios all factor in to what heat range of plug you run. Remember that the heatrange refers to the plugs ability to transfer heat from the tip of the insulator into the cylinder head . a plug to hot will cause pre ignition and even with normal combustion temps. the center electrode can be burned away and molteing metal is never good for performance. Cold plugs especially too cold a heat range have a tendacy to foul and missfire reducing power . So the best plug to keep from having engine damage caused from a spark plug is to run the coldest plug that doesnt foul or cause a miss fire.jmho

none of those tractors have pulled with us. i have never seen them before. i pull in the stock classes. i have a U moline i pull in super that LW built for me.

mine is a AC R45 not a R45TS and it doesnt have the tips you are talking about. the TS has the tips you talking about. it is a resistor but that doesnt hurt anything. i have had 2 other wc from stock to some mods and i have run these in them with no problems so i dont have to explain what my setup is. if matty wants to go your way that is ok with me but i am finished on this post. i like my setup and it has run for 3 years with no problems and it will continue to run that way until it gives problems. i dont come on here trying to be the best engine builder i just try to help out with the setup i am running and the experience i had from mr. JT.

I am not trying to push my opinions over youres . I have said if that plug works for you continue using it . One reason I think youre getting by using that plug is that its a 3/8 reach non projected tip is because when allis engineered the four inch head they recommended with gas or lp a 3/4 reach plug . For distalite or kerosene the recommended a 3/8 plug . Now If anyones ever had the head off a 226 they can see that in order to get the plug into the combustin chamber window hole area that exposes the plug from the flat side it takes a 3/4 reach non projected tip plug. When you use the 3/8 nreach plug it is by the plug hole design. doing the same thing as going to the parts store and buying the sparkplug antifoulers that screw into the head then the plug screws into them which moves the plug up out of the combustion chamber and allows for the use of the hottest heat range plug to be used. This is usually a band aid for most engines when a person purchases the anti foulers but they may not be knowing they are creating this antifouler area designed in the head by allis for the use of kerosene or distillate to be ran as a fuel. most people these days run gasoline in tractors and getting the spark plug into the combustion chamber does to things . ensures the most amount of fuel and air is ignited in the cylinder and by reducing more area of the hole it can affect th compression ratio by tic or two.

When a man takes 8 first place trophies home out of 9 hooks . It couldnt be a question about spark plugs.

Those are all Autolite non resistor 14mm plugs with flat gaskets.
The reach and heat varies among those plugs.
At least it's a narrowed down list of candidates to search through.

YEAP I AGREE i just figured i would narrow it down a little further brands are like car theys a manufacturer choice for everyone.
