Spin Seeder on fixed drawbar

It seems I can remember PTO spin seeders bolted on Farmall H and like tractors years ago, for sowing wheat and such, am dreaming this because I find no pictures or info about this

i am not sure what you think about when you say spin seeder. i have a seeder that fits on cub draw bar and runs off pto power

Dad has one, I forget the maker, that bolts to the drawbar on his Super AV and AV. He used to use it on his A, but likes the way the AV's operate it more so than the A. Uses it for seeding clover, cover crops, alfalfa.

We had one when I was a kid growing up. It didn't hold but maybe a bushel . I think the name was Cyclone seeder. Tommy

Most popular brand was Herd. Have one at home place, maybe get it going again, maybe not. Do a web search for Herd seeder.

They must make them, at work we had a Kubota with a mower, loader, a snow plow and a 3 pt. seeder/ used for a salt spreader. It all came new from the dealer in a package deal, don't remember the name on the spreader, sure took a beating in the salt.

Seems like everybody had an IH endgate seeder for sowing oats/wheat and the following crop of hay, clover, alfalfa, etc. Via the small hopper and metering system behind the big hopper. Seeder set in between the cleets that held the tailgate in a flare box wagon and drove via left rear wheel of the wagon via a flat link chain. Seeder covered 25-30 feet per pass. We always sowed oats in old corn ground. We'd disk the stalks disking 8 or 9 rows then leave a marker row to drive the seeder by. After seeding, the whole field got disked then peg tooth harrowed to level & smooth the field. Pretty quick and painless operation. We traded help with the neighbor sowing oats. Two men and a small boy could seed & disk & harrow in 60-80 acres of oats in a real short day.

The local seed companies even had loaner IH endgate seeders. I remember seeing only one JD endgate seeder growing up. Odd too, since we were only 20 miles from Moline and JD's Plow Planter Works.

I have a Gerber seeder that I have not used in years. It has a radiator hose for the drive line from the PTO. Just a few years ago the bevel gears were replacable.
