Spindle Bushings

I am fixing to rebuild my front axle spindles. I have read in the archives that the replacement bushings will have to be reamed. What is a recommended way of doing this? Thanks for any info.

On the bushings that I did on the 2N recently, the bushing didn"t require it, they slipped in tight but the spindle fit fine, think I read posts that stated that the new replacement bushings were made without the need of honing. Could be wrong too!

I did my 8N last summer also without reaming. Used a dowel which fit the bushing tightly, a large washer over the dowel, and a pvc joint above the washer slip fit on the dowel for a piloting tool, to drive in the bushing. Suspect the need to ream may be related to deformation of the bushing by driving without adequate pilot. If you need to ream, Autozone will loan a brake hoening tool driven by a drill to remove material.

Max, someone replaced the bushings in my '48 and did not ream them which now makes it hard to steer. Fit should be snug but not too tight.

As Billybuck mentioned, brake hone will do the job for you.
