spool valves

Are the control valves on front end loaders rebuildable? Do they have O-rings in them that you can replace and hopefully fix a leaky valve or do you just have to buy a whole new setup?

Hi Dont know what ya have but i got a CROSS 3 spool valve out here that gives out occasionally and i have just had to buy a new one.
had one that started leaking and i had it welded and then i warped it even tho we cooled it very slowly and then the spools wouldn't go back in so i honed it out and then the oil leaked internally.
after all that pi$$en around it made the $200 bucks for my new valve look perty cheep.
Never hurts to tare them apart tho just in case you can fix it.
What have you got to lose other than a little time and getting GREESY. :)

Yes , control valve are resealable..They either have o-rings or Quad ring seals on the valve spools..If chrome is missing , don't waste your time..

If it is leaking oil EXTERNALLY, most likely it can be repaired by replacing an "O" ring or seal.

If the valve is worn or damaged, and leaking INTERNALLY, so that the load creeps down, it's probably NOT repairable.

I have never seen a valve that wasnt rebuildable. Of course parts are expensive and a new one might be worth the parts for a rebuild.

I don't know what kind of valve you have, but in the better manufactured valves the spools are selectively fit to the bore when they are manufactured. You did not give us much to go on, valve manufacture, number of spools, if it is a monoblock or a sectional valve, etc.
