What do you all use to flush your spraye out, before changing chemicals? Also what do you use to clean out the tank,pump and nozzles in preparing to store for the season?

I've had problems before cleaning the tank and boom out.

Solved the problem this winter by adding a clean water tank to the sprayer.

I empty the chemical tank. Then the 12 volt pump on the little clean water tank is activated to move about 10 gallons of water.

I spray this out in the same field I'm in and rinse 2 more times with 10 gallons.

No chemical carry over problems at all.

Lucked out and bought the tank ,and 12volt pump at an auction for $50.

Best thing I've ever addedto a sprayer.

Used to try to carry clean water in jugs to the field and never got enough water thru the system.

1/2 jug of finnish and double rinse into the bush every change.

We flush with water after every spray and have a separate sprayer for weed control. That way we don't inadvertantly kill a plant.

At the end of the season we run some 50/50 antifreeze through the entire sprayer to make sure nothing freezes. On older sprayers we might run some used motor oil through them too. This helps fight corrosion on the old piston pumps and carbon steel tips.

We use automatic transmission drainings instead of motor oil because we think it is friendlier to the rubber parts. We use only transmission fluid, in our shop oil cans for the same reason.
