Starter problems

Tell me again how to test a starter to see if is is working. This seems to be the bad starter year for me and my 12 tractors. I think I have a problem with the start contacts... Thanks

Best way is to take it to an auto parts store where they have a machine that will not only test to see if it spins but also test the amp draw it has. Just having one spin up doesn't tell you if it will work as it should but the amp draw will

You can purchase an amp draw meter for little money at an auto parts store, or tool store. They are just held next to the heavy cable to indicate approximate amps. ^ volt with 150 cid engine and warmish wether shoulr draw 350 to 450 amps. 12v 250 to 350 amps (approximate) testing them cranking an engine (the engine they crank) is preferable to most other tests because the side load on the bearings will cause real world chance of armature drag on field poles.
