Starter questions

The 12 volt starter doesn't slam the ring gear like a 6 volt starter on 12 volts does. It also doesn't turn the engine a 100 miles per hour. Other than that I don't know how to tell the difference.
According to my starter guy, the field windings are half the thickness for 12 volts as they would be for six volts.

I had a starter on a WD45 converted to 12 volts is why he explained this to me. This tractor is used in a stable to run a manure spreader , and I was changing the starter every ten months. It's had this converted starter for about 3 years now without trouble.

I have a Farmall C serial #31047 that was converted to 12 volt many years ago. The starter has recently failed
My old starter, photo below, had the brass nub under the starter switch sloped in the opposite direction from the starter that I recently bought. Therefore the switch will not work when installed backwards. Can I use the starter that I just bought , but have to get a different starter switch?, or did I indeed order the wrong starter and now need to order a correct one? The starter that I bought is a 6 volt, my mistake? Do I need to get a 12 volt? The old starter was a delco-remy model 1107067...does anyone know if this was a 12 volt or 6 volt?
I thank you in advance for any ways that you can help me with this.View attachment 83714View attachment 83715View attachment 83716View attachment 83718View attachment 83719View attachment 83720View attachment 83722
The stud on the old starter is wrong & the new one is angled right. The switch wasn;'t hitting the slope like it should but was hitting the peak which is wrong. Also the red tag on the starter is 12 volts & a black tag is 6 volts.

Just drill new hole tomove the switch over so it would contact correctly problem solved. OR take the piece out of your switch and put some extra copper on it to extend it so they make contact or just find a switch that works the opposite direction to put on. there now you have about all the options there are. Topic is also over a year old.

Where do you buy a 12 volt starter for an H? I know most people will say the 6 volt starter will be fine on 12 volts. I know of an H where that is not true. The 6 volt starter has failed within one year from the 6 V to 12 V conversion .
Starter was probably failing a year ago. Doubling the voltage applied to it let it limp along a while longer. New bushings would have probably been a better fix.
