Statuionary engine throtle control

Any one know where I may find a stationary engine throtle control. I picture them as a knob you pull, and twist to lock the throtle to any engine speed. Thanks stan

My JD-model E had a loose throttle that would jump around in time with the oscillations of the engine running, when I looked at one at our club, there is a spring around the throttle shaft that puts tension on the throttle keeping it in a set position. Dan

You may want that control to be setting the spring tension on a governor.

Baum Hydraulics and McMaster-Carr both carry push pull and locking control cables.

You could simply use a shaft lock like used for electronics. A collet with a tapered outside and a nut with a tapered inside to squeeze down on the throttle rod.

You could use a set screw into the side of the bushing the throttle rod passes through.

You could put the throttle rod into a three bushing bind so friction holds it. Or a two bushing with spring pulling to the side bind for friction loading.

You could put a rotary motion piece in the linkage and arrange a fixed disk with some friction lining between it and the rotating disk. That friction lining could be a part for a MF-135. Spring load those plates pushing against the friction lining.

You could neglect to lubricate the bourdon cable and put extra bends it to create more friction.

Plain twist lock type with T shaped chrome handle is what we have used for years on irrigation pump engines. Most parts places or HD truck parts places will have the ones with twist lock preset and fast shut down push button in center if you need that. Hydraulics use that kind a lot so hydraulic places will have those too.

Stan,

Any irrigation outlet will have locking throttle control cables, Murphy switches and hour meters.

Also, hydraulic shops carry electric "idle bump" solenoid kits.
