STEERING BRAKE

MY JOHN DEERE 450C STEERING BRAKE ON THE RIGHT SIDE WON'T ADJUST. I'VE TAKEN THE 3/4 PLUG OUT AND TURNED THE SLOTTED WHEEL BUT IT DON'T SEEM TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON IS IT A POSSIBLITY THAT THE BRAKE BAND IS BROKEN. IF ANYBODY HAS AN IDEA I'D LOVE TO HEAR IT.

not sure about 450, but if its like the dry clutch brake 440, you have to adjust the clutch too, otherwise the clutch wont unlock before the brake comes on, thus powering through the brake.

I'M NOT SURE HOW DIFFERENT THEY ARE I'M ALMOST POSITIVE THE CLUTCH IS RELEASING OR I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STEER AT ALL THAT AND IF I PUSH AGAINST A BIG TREE THE TRACK STOPS WHEN I PULL THE LEVER I JUST CAN'T GET IT TO TURN ON A DIME LIKE THE LEFT SIDE.

does it steer good on that side going up hill? or does it have to be some inmovable object?
could be a broken brake band or adjusting/actuating link, my 440 did that once, can you see in the housing to see if it is pulling the band tight?

remember that the wheels turn opposite directions on each side. I could be that you were loosening the band.
